Mount Kisco Child Care Center

Our Story

History

Mount Kisco Child Care Center StoryMount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian child care organization. It was established in 1971 after a study by the Interfaith Council of Westchester. The Center opened its doors in 1971 to 25 three- and four-year old children in rented classroom spaces. Today the Center cares daily for 160 children, ages three months to twelve years of age.

Facilities

We now have a modern, state-of-the-art facility, built in 2002. With over 20,000 square feet of living space, the Center features growth and learning opportunities for every child in a cozy setting with the warmth and security of home. In addition our 7,500 square feet of outdoor play space is perfect for everything from picnics to gardening. My Second Home, a Family Services of Westchester program for local seniors is located within the Center.

Mission

We provide high quality, affordable childcare and early education to a diverse group of children in a safe, healthy environment. The goal of the Center is to promote each child's intellectual, physical, emotional and social development emphasizing feelings of self-esteem. With ethnic, social and cultural diversity, our student body benefits all the children and the community as a whole.

Organization

Mount Kisco Child Care Center is licensed by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. The MKCCC Board of Directors is responsible for decisions on matters of admission and tuition, budget and finance, fundraising, publicity, long range planning, personnel and scholarship assistance for families. The Board consists solely of volunteers, local community leaders and members, educators and professionals as well as parents of the Center. The Board meets eleven times a year, including an Annual Meeting which is open to all interested parents and friends. The Annual Meeting is held every April.

Funding Sources

We rely on several sources of funding: tuition, governmental fees and grants, United Way, and community contributions. As a a not-for-profit agency, tuition and fees do not cover the costs of operation. A continuous effort is necessary to close the gap between income and expenses. A Letter of Appeal by mail is an annual activity of the Board of Directors. Other events are organized and conducted by parents and staff have been successful in providing additional scholarship funds. Scholarship support for the children is based on need and financial capability of each family.
