Funds to benefit children's programming

Mt. Kisco, NY - (October 20, 2009) – Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) recently hosted its Fifth Annual Feed Me Fresh: An Edible Evening at West Patent Farm, Bedford Hills, NY. About 300 people attended the event, raising nearly $200,000 to help support MKCCC's scholarship fund and enabling the Center to continue offering its innovative programming to children of all backgrounds.

Event honorees included Bedford Corners resident Gretchen Menzies and Pound Ridge resident Wendy Lipp for their ongoing support of MKCCC's programming and fundraising efforts. Exceptional Community Service Awards were presented to Chappaqua Transportation, EssentialMom.com and former MKCCC student volunteer Amanda Taitz.

"We are so proud of our Feed me Fresh program, because it emphasizes the link between health and good nutrition. It is imperative that we get the message out that good nutrition leads to healthier adults later in life, and we are thrilled to have honored individuals who have dedicated themselves to the program," said Dottie Jordan, MKCCC Executive Director. "We are so grateful to our donors and sponsors, who made the evening a true success."

The event, which was co-chaired by Chappaqua residents Pam and Jeff Moskowitz, and Pound Ridge residents Tara Hennigan and Dominic Lamanuzzi, was filled with music, cocktails, farm market offerings and fabulous foods from local eateries.

Feed me Fresh is MKCCC's garden-to-table, sustainable nutrition program designed to increase the level of appreciation for healthy foods and healthy choices for children at an early age. The event highlights the Center's commitment to community-based programming by educating families about healthy choices, while simultaneously showcasing the work of local chefs, farmers and artisans.

Ingredients were provided by regional farms and the evening's cuisine was prepared by chefs from such Westchester eateries including Bedford Post; Crabtree's Kittle House; La Tulipe Desserts; The Flying Pig on Lexington; Myong's Private Label Gourmet; Ladle of Love and Café of Love; Table Local Market; Plates; French American Bistro; Sonora; Q Restaurant and Bar; John Boy's Farm; The Center's own Feed Me Fresh Kitchen; and Captain Lawrence.
