The Center's staff consists of an Executive Director, a Program Director, lead teachers with backgrounds in Early Childhood Development, teacher assistants, a development office and administration staff, a social worker, a nurse, and a wide range of volunteers.

The teaching team from each class coordinates with others to share perspectives, programs, skills and objectives.  Staff training is provided throughout the year.  Staff is trained in First Aid and CPR and child abuse/neglect identification annually.   In each classroom, there is designated staff with certification in medication administration training through the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.

The Center’s Board of Directors supports professional growth and development of its staff and provides tuition reimbursement for continued training.  The Director is responsible for interviewing and recommending personnel to be employed, and for the coordination of staff and program.  All staff members are finger printed with a criminal background check and screened through the N.Y.S. Central Registry of Child Abuse.

Each classroom has one head teacher and two assistant teachers. The head teachers are required to have an Associate degree. Many of our teachers have Bachelors degrees. Assistant teachers must have a high school diploma.

All staff members are required to have 30 hours of training in each licensing period. Training includes First Aid, CPR, recognizing child abuse and health and safety training. All head techers have Medical Administration Training.

When children and seniors are together, they are always "double supervised." (MKDCC staff as well as My Second Home staff are always present--children and seniors are never left alone).

Staff/Child Ratios:
Infants (3 months-18 months): 3 teachers with 8 children
Toddlers (18 months-3 years): 3 teachers with 10 children
Preschool (3-5 years): 3 teachers with 16 children
Afterschool (K-6th grade): 5 teachers with 45 children
